Splinter Cell

so I have this idea...

anyone else notice there's a complete lack of byzantine campaigns in AOE2 and it's expansion?

well, ok, the AOE2 campaigns were more about the late middle ages (1100-1500), but the expansion did delve into the years of the late WRE (Attila campaign), the dark ages (battle of tours scenario), and the early middle ages (el cid campaign, manzikert and hastings scenario)

now, I don't think I'm wishing too much when I say I wish they had a byzantine campaign. off of who?

now, the guys that make the games usually do like to add their dramatic flair in the beginning and ending sequences of a mission, so certain points they could certainly drive home with...the division between Justinian and Belisarius, for sure. and, besides...there's no byzantine campaign! thoughts?

AoE2 Favourites?

So, since we seem to have a lot of people here who still like Age of Empires II the most of all the AoE games... which is your favourite AoE2 civ and why?

Splinter Cell

hello there

new member here. I first got into AOE back in seventh grade when I saw a friend of mine playing AOE2 on a compy at school. bought that, and then the expansion a year later. I bought the first AOE and it's expansion a short time later as well. I also have AOM and it's expansion, and no offense to it's fans, but I favor AOE2 over AOE and AOM. but anyway...

I thought I would join an AOE community, because I really know only one other person who plays the game, and figured I needed to look somewhere to find other fans, and what better place than LJ?

I recently got back into AOE2 after getting a new compy, and have been playing the campaigns cheat free (to redeem myself from when I first had the game). funny story, and I'm sure some of you have seen this before during gameplay, but don't you hate it when you fight off wave after wave of enemy forces, with your hero (in my case, Joan) fighting valiantly alongside your troops, and only to have him/her struck down by a furking trebuchet shot? as upset as I was at the time, it really is kind of amusing to think about later...

hi, I just bought AoE3 yesterday and my computer meets all the requirements (and exceeds them) but when I went to play it, I got an error message saying my video card is not big enough. I made a little graphic to illustrate:

Just a quick question for AoE 3

I've had AoE for a while and managed to beat the campaign on easy/medium mode. Now that I've had a bit more experience I want to go back and replay the campaing mode on hard. However, I can't find anyway to fully start over so that I get to play with home shipments and the like. The only thing I can think of is to uninstall it and start over. Has any one else managed to find a way around this?

Hey I found a community for AoE finally! I found you guys by mistake, looking for the cheat code for wood (shame on me). I just started playing v3 about a week ago.

The only civilization I've played so far is the Russians [level 14 home city]. Who has played what others and which group do you like the most?
I like v3 more then past ones. The treasure hunting and trading posts help a lot. I haven't played online yet but maybe in the next week or so.

Age of Kings

Some AoE III thoughts

I finally got a chance to play AoE III on my dear boyfriend's computer - and I'm liking it! The whole home city concept confused me at first, but since I've figured out how it works it has grown on me. Here are some more of my thoughts on changes made to the gameplay since Age of Kings/Age of Mythology:

installation probs

hi all

i was excited today to buy AoE 3 and as luck would have it, i'm having installation problems.

i get about 99% of the way on the 3rd disc, and then i get a message saying the install wizard has been interupted and try and install again later. no further details.

i'm not a computer guru so i have no idea what to do, and microsoft haven't replied to my email.

has anyone experienced the same thing, or does anyone have any suggestions? it's so frustrating to have the game sitting here, but unplayable.

I've been experiencing some more problems with AoE 3. The game shuts itself down and has slowly decreased in performance the more I have played. After it shuts itself down an Error report pops up with the option to send it to Microsoft. This problem only began after I installed Photoshop CS2. Could this be causing the problem? My computer is definitely good enough to run both AoE 3 and Photoshop CS2.

Another question: How do you advance to the fifth age?

Funny ESO Glitch

I was just participating in a 3 vs 3 game of AoM with Benny (laitainion) when something funny happened. There was a lot of fighting going on, so everything was kind of slow and eventually our common ally dropped out. However, it didn't take long until someone on the other side dropped out as well, so I thought things were evened out again. Except... Benny didn't reply either when I sent him any messages, and his main town centre was suddenly gone too - the others were still there though.

Because there were so many enemy units around my base that kept attacking me mindlessly simply because of their vicinity to my buildings, it took me a while to realise that I was in fact the only one still doing anything. Benny told me later that apparently I had been the one who dropped out, but I ended up in an alternate dimension where I was the only one still playing. So I had a blast by building a titan and stomping all our enemies into the ground on my own, seeing how they put up no resistance. Understandably the game didn't declare me the winner once I had wiped them off the map (seeing how it hadn't realised that they weren't responding anymore in the first place), but I ended up winning the game anyway by building a wonder. Funniest game ever! :-D

Finally Playing AOEIII

I made an entry a few weeks ago about not being able to play AOEIII on my computer. I'm happy to report that I fixed the problem and the game is running nice and smooth now! Turns out there was a problem with my computer not with the game. I reinstalled WinXp (Home Edition) and that seems to have fixed that problem. I didn't do a clean install, I just reinstalled XP on top of the old one. This way it doesn't erase any of your data on your computer. But you do have to download all the updates again. That's all and thanks for the advice.

Problems with Age of Empires III

I recently bought Age of Empires III and I am experiencing problems with the in-game scrolling speed. The game is not responding quickly and the movement around the map is slow.
I have all the specs (2.66GH; 512MB Ram; 256MB Graphics Memory; FX5500). The only thing that concerns me is the "Hardware Transformation and Lighting". I am not sure if my Graphics Card has this. Could it be causing the problem? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Age of Empires III - The Japanese

I just got a level 10 Portuguese city in single player. Here's the (somewhat amusing) result.

Now the Japanese aren't technically in Age of Empires III as a culture, but that doesn't matter!

Ronin in the woods.

Ronin (single handedly) razing a TC.

And no, my system can't actually handle these shader settings at more than like 20 fps. I just change the settings for screenshot purposes. :D
